Blogger Assignment

In school this semester, I am taking a Computer Literacy course for my degree.  This next assignment was to create a blog and discuss the role of technology in teaching or education.  I e-mailed my teacher and explained to him that I already had a blog, and he was gracious enough to let me turn my extremely out of date blog in if I just added this post.  I am super grateful that I do not have to start over, and it has made me get the bug to catch up and try to keep it current.  Here goes....

I think that technology is making a huge entrance into the education system these days.  I find it so amazing how you can walk down the hall of any school at any level, and see a teacher using a form of technology.  You can see teachers using tablets to teach a certain topic, and the image can be displayed onto the board through a projector.

I think that technology will definitely assist me in teaching someday.  There are so many great programs and applications that could be used to teach children these days.  I have seen firsthand the ways that technology help children learn, my own children being the examples.  Some of the things that my children have learned simple by knowing how to use technology is amazing.

I do think that there could be some negative aspects to using technology in the classroom, but I think that mostly falls on the teacher.  If the teacher knows what programs are being used, and what the programs are teaching our children, then they could be mostly a positive experience for any child.

One of the websites that my children like to use to learn is www.abcya.com. This is a very educational website, especially for the younger children.

T-Ball

Jordan, Chandler and Eli were on the same T-Ball team this year.  They had so much fun playing together.
I love my cute little ball players.  And of course, you can's go wrong when you get a medal at the last game!!!

Las Vegas

For last years Christmas, Rick and Peg took us adults to Las Vegas for a weekend getaway.  We had such a fun time.  We went to Cirque du Soleil's Mystere, and Ka.  They we fantastic!!!  We did tons of walking and took in all the sights.  We did a little shopping, and a lot of eating.  Of course the few pictures that I took were all of food, but Peg has a lot of pictures on her camera.

These were our first meal in Vegas.  Volcano Nachos and Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville.  They were so so good.  Spence and I shared them and barely made a dent in them.
Of course we had to go to Serendipity and get a Frozen Hot Chocolate...YUM!!!

Mom treated us all to the Bellagio's all you can eat buffet. I was in heaven. They had as many crab legs as you could eat. I love crab legs. It was so good!!!

While we were there, Pete Rose was at a sports store signing autographs.  It was pretty cool.

Halloween 2011 Backtrack

I just found where I had 2011 Halloween Pictures.  So now my posts are not in order.  Oh well. The kids were way excited for Halloween this year.  Chandler was super Spiderman
Hayley was a very fancy Gypsy...
Brock was a very standard Basketball player...
Jordan was a very brave, and maybe a little scared "army guy"

Christmas 2011

What a fun year this Christmas was.  The anticipation almost did these poor little kids in.  This year they wanted to stay home for Christmas morning.  Of course, they had to wait until dad got home from the barn to see what Santa brought them   Their hopes and dreams came true when they saw what they got.   Chandler got a collection of dirt bikes.  He was so thrilled.  Jordan, Hayley and Brock all got I Pod touches.  What a quite morning we had while they all played with their new things.

Chandler's #4

Chandlers 4th birthday was December 5th 2011.  He was so excited to have a birthday.  He counted down for weeks.
Of course you know how 4 year olds open a gift.  They tear it open, take a quick peak, throw it to the side so they can open the next gift.
He is such a sweet little boy.  I am so glad that he is a part of our family.  Love you bud!!

Jordan #6

My darling Jordan turned 6 this past November.  He always looks forward to a birthday, but gets too shy when all of the attention is directed towards him.  He had a great day, and is always easy to please.  Happy Birthday my favorite little toothless six year old boy.
